IMG_0458Cryotherapy, the new craze in the health and fitness world. The first time I tried it, I was hooked.  Cryotherapy is a process in which you subject your body to extreme cold for a maximum of 3 minutes.  In other words, you freeze yourself for 3 minutes in a “chamber” with a temperature as low as -230 F. You’re probably thinking why would anyone want to do this to themselves? Well, there are so many benefits that I think the real question is why would anyone NOT want to do this to themselves? Just to name a few….

  • Reduced Inflammation, swelling and pain
  • Faster recovery from training/ working out
  • Endorphin release
  • Cellulite Reduction
  • Boosts Metabolism
  • Burns 500-800 Calories per session
  • Collagen Production

This past fall I was in teacher training for the Tracy Anderson Method, aka the best workout in the entire world, but I will touch on that in a later post. I know this might sound a little dramatic, but I felt like an athlete in training.  This method really kicks your ass, and I mean that in the most positive way ever. I was probably working out 2-4 hours a day, 6 days a week.  I was constantly sore. No amount of stretching or massaging could help. Luckily, during my training I went to a seminar where The New York City Ballet dancers w
ere being interviewed.  One dancer mentioned how cryotherapy was a complete game changer for her in terms of easing her aches and pains. She would not stop raving about it.  The very next day I made an appointment at Kryolife in NYC.  My first time was even better than I could have imagined. I lasted the whole 3 minutes like a true champ.  Yes, it is REALLY cold, but it’s VERY doable.  My body felt incredible afterwards.  It was like I was gifted a new pair of legs after stepping out of the “cryosauna”.  Thankfully, I did the treatment at night, because I was EXHAUSTED afterwards. I slept like a baby. Since then, I’ve gone back about 7 times and it never fails to impress me. It actually gives me a burst of energy now, I love it.  I highly recommend trying this once, if not for the benefits at least you can get a cool instagram pic. HOLLLA
