Maternity style

Now that I am in the final stretch of this pregnancy, I am finally starting to get the hang of maternity fashion. I’ve learned through trial and error what I hate (maternity jeans) and what I love (overalls). If you followed me before this pregnancy you know that I am a girl who loves her crop tops and high waisted jeans. Unfortunately for me, a pregnant lady can’t really pull that off so I had to find new pieces that made me feel like myself. I don’t know what it is, but spending money on actual maternity clothes just didn’t do it for me. I really tried to buy things that I could wear afterwards or else if just felt like a waste of money to me. Hands down my favorite piece of maternity clothing that I bought were my ASOS overalls ($67). I first bought them in black, and recently just got purchased them in white to help me finish off this pregnancy. If I had to recommend ANY piece of maternity clothing to a newly pregnant lady- it would be overalls. I feel like a psycho with how much I preach about it- but being a girl who loves her high waisted jeans, overalls were a life saver. Now that NYC is finally getting spring weather I am starting to rock cute little stretchy dresses, ones that I had pre-pregnancy and ones that I bought knowing that I could wear them afterwards. I put together a little booklet of pieces i’ve actually worn and pieces that would work- hope it helps a soon to be new mama out!

p.s Hunza G swimsuits are ONE SIZE FITS ALL aka the perfect suit for before and after pregnancy.

Layering with Velvet

Sunglasses: Celine / Jacket: Theory / Turtleneck: Reformation / Dress: Reformation /        Boots: Stuart Weitzman / Bag Strap: Maison De Coco

Let’s talk about trends, shall we? People always seem to have opinions about this topic, negative and positive.  Some people LIVE to be trendy (hi, me, I do) while others despise it and want to be there own person.  I respect the decision of both sides. I think at the end of the day you need to dress for you and ONLY you. You need to wear something that makes you feel confident and excited to get dressed. If you are into a trend, wear it, if you aren’t then don’t.  It’s pretty simple, getting dressed should be selfish.  Think about you and only you and you will prevail. Because let’s be honest, there’s nothing more stylish then being confident with who you are. ( sounds so cheesy but it’s so fucking true.)

Speaking of Trends, hello velvet.  Unless you have been living under a rock, it is no secret that velvet has stolen the show this season.  It is everywhere and I am not mad about it.  Velvet to me has always felt like it needed to be worn during the holidays, but now it’s become such a transitional fabric, I can’t wait to wear it into spring. I’m also super into this layering trend. Normally, I would have never bought a velvet mini dress in the dead of winter, but being able to pair it with a turtle neck was a game changer.  For this look I styled it with boots and a turtleneck, but in the warmer months I would trade out the turtleneck for a basic white tee, and the boots for some white sneakers. I love being able to make a purchase that can work for multiple seasons! Shop some of my velvet picks below!

#iworkout

Bra: Ultracor / Leggings: Alo Yoga / Shoes: APL

It’s no secret that I love working out. It doesn’t hurt that I found a method that excites me, is BEYOND effective, and kicks my ass EVERY single time. I truly think that’s the secret when it comes to staying committed to working on your fitness; find a workout that makes you excited to go workout. If you told me I had to go to the gym and run on a treadmill or walk on a stair master I would die, it just doesn’t do it for me. Tracy Anderson is my jam and has done wonders for my mind, body, and endurance. I totally understand that no workout is one size fits all- so find what you love and stick with it. Make sure to get a nice sweaty ass kicking AT LEAST 5x a week, and stretch. Everyone can always stretch more. When you look good you feel good, duh.

In terms of workout attire- I always prefer a sports bra and high waisted leggings. This could sound slightly narcissistic, but I love being able to see my abs work in the mirror. It helps to remind me to engage and use my core more (something EVERYONE can work on). Below are some of my sports bra picks, cute enough to wear sans t-shirt if that’s your sort of thing.

Parka Game Strong

Happy New Year everyone!! I love the start of a fresh year, it gives us the opportunity to refocus our energy and set goals for ourselves for the next 365 days. This year I really want to focus on my blog, and try to be on my phone less in social situations. I am also going to take my health and fitness to a new level. I am getting married at the end of March, and isn’t it like the rule of life to be the fittest/skinniest you will ever be on the day of your wedding?! PHOTOS LAST A LIFETIME LADIES.

This is such an exciting time in my life that I am almost forgetting that we are in the worst season of all of them. WINTER. Oh how I could do without you. You’re cold, depressing, my dogs hate you, and I would honestly just rather be in a bikini. The only thing (besides hot carbohydrates) that helps me get through winter is fashion. Boots, sweaters, pom pom hats, & furry pieces make winter worth living in. I have the attention span of like a 3 year old. As much as I love love love summer, by the end of it I need some sort of closet switch up.

As I was browsing through Shopbop this past August for some new fall and winter pieces, I stumbled upon this Mr & Mrs Italy Parka and knew I had to have her. Being the savvy shopper that I am, I waited until shopbop had their friends and family sale so I could get her at a discounted rate. I ended up getting her 25% off and I am pretty pumped about it. Moral of the story, be a smart shopper and know the stores you frequent. I love Shopbop, and they tend to have a couple of sales throughout the year. If there is a bigger ticket item that I want for the season coming up I try and hold out until then. I believe their next friends and family will be sometime in April, so start eyeing what you want now!

p.s I did NOT get a Mr & Mrs Italy with lined fur and I feel perfectly warm enough outside.

p.s.s These COH of Jeans are the best pair of jeans I own.  If you are looking for a pair of the best high waisted jeans- look no further.

Furry Statement shoes

Bag: Chanel / Sweater: (similar & similar) Pants: Current Elliot / Shoes: Loeffler Randall

From the second that I saw these Loeffler Randall furry babies, I knew they had to be mine. Everything from the colors of the fur to the block heel made me fall in love. When it comes to styling a statement shoe, I believe it is best to build from the ground up. Be simple, you focal point when wearing such incredible shoes, should be your incredible shoes!!! For this look I went as simple as I know how to go, black leather skinnies and a white sweater. This was shot back in October when a jacket wasn’t needed and my toes wouldn’t get cold, but you better believe I will wear these shoes in the winter if it’s not wet outside (AND if I am taking an uber). Everyone should have at least ONE statement shoe in their closet! It’s the one shoe that you won’t wear all the time, but when you do happen to wear it, it will you make you feel those new shoe butterflies all over again.

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!!! Check out my statement picks below!

Sunglasses: Prada / Dress: Zara / Bag: Chanel / Shoes: Jimmy Choo ( similar)

I have a love/hate relationship with crazy printed items, especially dresses. I tend to get over them after one wear OR one good instagram photo. (WHATEVER- AT LEAST IM HONEST.) That’s why I tend to invest in key pieces that I can wear over and over again, versus a dress I will get over faster than you can say WANNA GO SHOPPING?! That’s why I love Zara. You are always destined to walk out with at least one good purchase that doesn’t drain your bank account. Hence this colorful, fun, fall dress I was lucky to find. I was originally going to pair her with thigh high boots, but it was warmer than I expected it to be so I went with these studded Jimmy Choo Booties instead. HELLO FEMININE EDGY GIRL. Once the weather gets colder, black tights and some thigh high boots will make me excited to wear her all over again! (hopefully)
