No one does effortless chic better then the Parisian Woman. They always seem so perfectly undone and done at the same. Classic mixed with stylish edge. What women wouldn’t want to embody that? This weekend while shopping in Soho, I decided to stop into the IRO store. This stripped t-shirt was on my spring wish list and I wanted to try it on. It’s better than I could have imagined, the perfect boyish fit. In typical MRAE fashion, I went in for one thing and ended up falling in love with everything. This brand is my new obsession, I can’t wait to add more pieces to my closet. I ended up pulling the trigger on a cream, tweed jacket. I’m preparing my wardrobe for the warmer months, and really want to add lighter pieces to my closet. I know this jacket will get incredible use. It’s an instant chic-a-fier. What does that mean you ask? A piece that you put on that instantly makes you look chicer. I might have a slight shopping problem, but I am a good shopper. I always make sure to buy things that I know I will wear time and time again. I go in with a mindset of building my closet with quality things that will last, over having a bunch of junk that I will give away next year. The second you realize that, the less you will complain about having nothing to wear. Whenever I buy something new, the excitement overwhelms me and I need to wear it ASAP. My new purchases came together perfectly to create a “Parisian Style” inspired Easter outfit. Jim and I ended up spending Easter Day with our good friends Stacie and Phil. We had brunch at Marea uptown, and headed to Central Park to walk around. We finished the night off stuffing our faces with our favorite Chinese food, Red Farm. It was the perfect outfit, for a perfect day, with perfect people, in a perfect city. I may never be as cool as a French girl, but I’m okay with that. I’d rather be a New Yorker anyway.

I used to be OBSESSED with my birthday. In my mind, the week of my birthday was my birthday. A seven day celebration of the birth of Madison Rae. “BOW DOWN PARENTALS AND BESTIES. It’s my birthday week. I want a party, and presents, and all the attention on me, me, me.” A full on birthday BRAT. This past February I celebrated my 26th birthday. Something about this year felt different. Entering the second part of my 20’s really made me reflect on my life. I am by NO means trying to be dramatic and say that I am getting old. I am well aware that I am still young, but being closer to 30 than 20 is just crazy to me. I remember days of my childhood like they were yesterday, but yet I am 26 and getting married next year. I am an actual adult and that’s just insane to me. I live a beautiful life with my wonderful fiance, and 3 doggies that I love so much. I have my health, my parents, and great family and friends. I am so grateful for everything over my last 26 years on earth. The ups and the downs, the highs and the lows. Everything has lead me to this exact moment in life, and I couldn’t be happier. This year my birthday fell on a Saturday, which means I was able to have Jim, my fiance with me during the day. He works a lot, so having him for a full day is always a special treat. I started the day off being treated to hair botox from my bestie, Stacie. Hair botox is basically keratin minus the chemicals. It eliminates frizz, and excuse my french but it’s fucking magical. After that I had a small little birthday brunch at one of my favorite brunch spots in the city, Le Bilboquet. This place has my favorite nicoise salad (with a side of fries), and killer bloody mary’s. The vibe is stuffy upper east side(which I LOVEEEE), with a dash of downtown cool. EPIC people watching. The weather was surprisingly perfect, so picking out my birthday outfit was easy. I opted for my favorite new Reformation star skirt, and my go to leather jacket. I’m obsessed with all things star printed right now. Stars are everywhere; handbags, shoes, jeans, dresses, everything! I obviously chose to wear flat boots so I could walk around and shop after brunch, DUHHH. At night Jim and I ordered Koi delivery, and hung out with our doggies. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. I still love my birthday, and I’ll always be a brat. But the days of “Birthday Bratting” are behind me.

Santa Barbara, what a beautiful place. I wish I would have been able to explore it a little more, but now that leaves me with an excuse to go back. My fiance and I were invited to a wedding at the Bacara Resort this February. I have a thing for outdoor hotels, I actually prefer them over high-rise hotels. There is something about them that makes it feel more like a vacation. Everything from the rooms to the bloody mary’s were incredible at Bacara. The wedding itself was lovely. Now that I am engaged and planning my own, it’s nice to be able to go to a wedding that is wonderfully done and take away ideas that I want to incorporate into my own special day. One thing that I love about being invited to a wedding….having an excuse to get a new dress! This time around I wanted to get something that I would be able to wear again. I hate buying a dress and only being able to wear it a couple times throughout my life. One, I feel like that’s a waste of a purchase, and two, I don’t have the bank account for that. I always feel so much better about a purchase when I know that it will get great use. When I stumbled across this Stone Cold Fox dress on sale, I knew I had to have it. Stone Cold Fox creates very classic, bohemian-esc, ladylike pieces. Pieces that you will have and be able to wear time and time again. This dress ended up fitting with the vibe of the resort perfectly. It was super comfortable, and received many compliments. I can’t wait to whip it out this spring with some cute Chanel espadrilles on my feet. Stone Cold Fox has beautiful pieces on sale right now on
